Dutch fashion and lifestyle brand Scotch & Soda is accelerating its global expansion plans, aiming to open twenty physical stores in the next six months, in major cities such as Boston, Dubai, London, Milan and Shanghai.

After opening sixteen stores in the past six months, another twenty will be added in the next semester. The highlight of the expansion will be the opening of two flagship stores in the fashion hubs of London and Milan. These will be the brand’s largest European stores outside the Netherlands.

In addition, store openings are planned in major cities such as Boston, Cairo, Doha, Dubai, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Shanghai and Washington. Meanwhile, more existing stores are converted to the new design “Free Spirit”, which Scotch & Soda launched last year and which combines sustainable elements, such as recycled coat hangers and herringbone floors in FSC wood, with omnichannel technology.

The label also has digital ambitions, as evidenced by the opening of a first digital shop on Alibaba‘s platform Tmall in China last autumn. In order to keep the growth plans logistically on track, Scotch & Soda will open a new 27,500 sqm warehouse just outside Amsterdam, in September this year. That distribution centre will have a roof with solar panels and vertical gardens with automatic irrigation.

“The growth momentum we saw last year continues to grow in strength, with more new locations around the world, says CEO Frederick Lukoff. “This is a great opportunity to reach new customers worldwide and introduce them to our brand, inspired by the free spirit of Amsterdam.”
